The SWBNO is the administrator of the City of New Orleans drainage structures, sewerage collection and treatment, and potable water purification and distribution systems.
Due to the New Orleans levy system failure after Hurricane Katrina made its landfall, the SWBNO facilities suffered devastating damages from brackish and contaminated floodwaters.
With complicated systems and EPA mandated requirements, the SWBNO required Public Assistance expertise to support for its Grant Management recovery work. As in most Public Assistance projects, the SWBNO needed passionate advocacy and program proficiency to resolve and reverse many “ineligible” determinations (Denial of funding) for key recovery projects.
Using dispute resolution meetings, position papers and appeals, the SWBNO engagement facilitated approximately 100 Million dollars added funding for Project Worksheets previously determined to be ineligible, did not capture all costs or contained erroneous NFIP insurance reductions.
