Debris Operations

Post disaster, debris piles are common, and equally common are the scrutiny of the debris removal contracts.

This scrutiny regularly results in funding and eligibility disputes over competitive and public procurement, unit costs, and total debris quantities. In addition, other pitfalls in debris operations stem from specific documentation requirements and the sensitivity of environmental regulations.

For these reasons, at times when FEMA utilizes the services of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) under the provisions of Mission Assignment to conduct large scale debris operations to help communities respond to overwhelming disaster debris, it is very likely that signing onto such program will prove to be extremely beneficial.
